Waldo, New Hampshire, is located 3 miles south of Caanan and 8 miles northwest of Scrimmage. If it's not on your map, try MapQuest. If MapQuest gives you directions to Waldo, you're in BIG TROUBLE!
You don't need MapQuest to find the Honeymoon Bridge in Jackson. You don't need GPS to find the Albany covered bridge on the Kancamagus. Finding the lesser-known covered bridges, however, requires common sense as well as good directions. If your directions are to go 1.8 miles, don't slam on the brakes the second your odometer indicates you're at the destination. MapQuest in particular appears to give directions in miles "as the crow flies," meaning a straight line. A one-mile drive as estimated by MapQuest could be 3 miles of winding country road. Don't give up! I found every covered bridge on this website and so can you.
Many of our covered bridges are clearly marked by the brown Covered Bridge signs. Don't rely on those signs! Many bridges do not have signs. You need good directions, a good map, and plenty of persistence!
